There are many reasons for sleep problems. As there are so many reasons, it’s important to establish what is actually causing the issue before deciding on a course of treatment.
Some common causes are disrupted circadian rhythms, physical illness or pain, mental illness or depression, unresolved emotional issues that lead to insomnia, medication side effect. Treatment may be as easy as moving time zone clocks forward by one hour each day to reset one’s biological clock- if living in a different time zone but just back home temporarily, for example- this should have much less impact on “real life” hours than jet lag would! However taking an SSRI for this instead might be more appropriate if experiencing severe incapacitating major depressive disorder which prevents deep enough rest.
