I think going to bed at a fairly consistent time is a huge help, and most people seem to do best when they go to bed within one hour of the same time every night. This helps keep sleep patterns more regular and up-to-date with a person’s body clock. It presumes that work or life responsibilities don’t push you around too much.
Obviously, it would be better if your on “work/school schedule” was on an optimal schedule where sleeping time coincides with when you need sleep based on your natural circadian rhythms (about 8 hours of sleep at night). There are some things we can all learn from people in cultures without artificial light who still live in accordance with their natural cycles – these cultures.
